6 Reasons Why I Don’t Care About Keyword Density

It is a heated debate when it comes to keyword density in an article or blog post. Most of the experts will focus on 2 to 3 percent keyword’s density and sometimes less and more.

Few years back when my main focus was just SEO I also used to give more score to keyword density. However, now I am more towards creating content with information.

You may not agree, but it is turning out to be a good strategy for me. Here are the five reasons why I don’t care about keyword density.

Readers Need Information Not Keywords keyword density ratio

I get frustrated when I see pages ranking in Google for some stupid keywords. When I visit those pages, I just find the search term, I used in Google. They are using keywords to bring visitors only and there was no information about that particular search phrase.

I don’t want my readers to get furious when they read my articles and blogs.

Does Not Make Sense

When you try to focus keyword’s density in an article, it never makes sense because you are repeating the words more than ten times to achieve the desired percentage.

I never understand who defined the best percentage for keywords to be used in an article! Google?

Google Now Hates Content Written For Keywords

Many of you may not agree, but I came across a blog post recently posted on Google Webmaster Blog Five common SEO mistakes. It is clearly mentioned on the blog post that writing compelling content is more important than writing keyword centred article.

Readers Are Not Bots

You need to remind that visitors are not bots they are users looking for information. If they come across junk, they wouldn’t mind bouncing to another website. Keywords may attract web crawlers, but human readers need interaction.

How many times you wanted to read the content containing keywords everywhere Title, Headings, body, and even images.

Personally, I hate it

I don’t care about keyword density and I hate to repeat the things. Some of the SEO guys may confuse the ideal keyword density requirement with Ezinearticles.com requirements. It is the limit assigned by Ezine Articles so that people do not keyword stuff articles.

Do You Use A Measuring Tool?

If you are quoting that there are many tools to check keyword density, then it is correct there are many. However, you need to check SEO Book Keyword Density Analyzer and read what is written below the tool. It is a poor measure of relevancy, search engines are now focusing on signals generated from user behaviour.

Conclusion

It is a myth now to set a percentage to analyze the density of any phrase. There are many wordpress plugins that let you know what your SEO score is and how you have used the keywords. It is good to use a keyword, but calculating a perfect density is a SEO Myth.

Thanks Noman! I am glad it is helpful for you, but remember old man SEO is long gone.

I usually repeat the keyword 3-4 (long tail) plus a few variations. No matter how long the article is…which usually results in a pretty low keyword density. somewhere around 0.5%…got no problems ranking, as long as you use the right anchor text and stuff.

I agree Andreas, but setting a percentage might be difficult in this regard. You can see I have used the main word “keyword density” quite often in the article, but it was unintentional. I am not sure how many times it got repeated! Well! as long as it is making sense and not stuffed its never harmful ;).

I am also not a big fan of keywords. I am sure we need to make our content interesting and creative and keywords are just messing with our content. I am glad that Google have already got that.

I agree, there is nothing worse than reading a keyword stuffed article. People want information and if you supply solutions to their problems, you will achieve your objective.

Content! I would definitely trade content for keyword density any day. The best part of this whole article is the phrase humans are not bots! It is so true you have to remember who you are appealing to. A lot of bloggers will begin to appeal more to the search engines than the people reading the posts.

I do use Keyword measuring tool but it is to make sure that I do not have very high keyword density in the post. I do not try to increase the density in case it is less or to be at any specific number, just try to make sure it is less than 3% and that too after completing the post.

I use windows live writer which also helps as while writing I do not get any kind of stats…

Good Sanjeev! Though I never keep the percentage score for measuring, but you are right good to check the density if it is going to high.

Agree with you!! readers have an interest in content not in keywords. We must keep in mind, Google doesn’t support content written for keywords anymore. These all are basic six reasons.

Basically readers really hate seeing the same phrase over and over again like I do.Having these keywords will also ruin how you write your article, aside from writing what you believe is best for the user, you write what can accompany your keywords which often result to nonsensical sentences that has a tendency to repeat its sentence construction.
